Do your own thing: getting out and about with Vytality’s help
There is so much to do and enjoy in Calgary over the summer, from Shakespeare by the Bow to the many music festivals. However, if you have limited mobility, or are not quite so confident travelling on your own as you used to be, many of these events might seem like “too much to cope with”.
The good news is that you don’t have to struggle on your own – just ask us for help! At a basic level, we can organise suitable transport to and from your event, and be there when you return with a welcome cup of tea or light supper. We can also travel with you on your journey on bookable public transport such as Calgary Transit Access or via private taxi.
Take a whole day out
We can accompany you for the whole day if you prefer. It’s so much easier (and enjoyable) when someone is there to help carry a bag, push a wheelchair, or read signs. It’s also nice to have someone to hand with a steady arm or to walk with when at big outdoor events where the ground may be uneven, or there are crowds of people around.
Trips out from residential care
It’s not just our home care clients who can benefit from a day out either! If you live in residential care or a senior living community, you may just want to go out and do your own thing once in a while. One of our caregivers can be your companion for days out to special events that you enjoy, both in Calgary and beyond (travel times permitting).

Music in the Plaza features two hours of music performed on the traditional bandstand. You can bring a picnic or dine at The Selkirk Grille. Enjoy a line-up of jazz, folk, country and more, and with an 8pm finish, it’s not a late night home either.

Calgary Highland Games

Companions for family occasions
Our home care givers love a party as much as you. So we’re more than happy to help by taking you to and from family and other social gatherings you otherwise might not be able to attend (distances permitting).
Equally, if you’re a home caregiver and want to attend a special occasion, we offer respite care for your loved one in the comfort of their own home. Home-based respite care is very much a win-win:
- You get a rest without worry and a chance to see family and friends.
- Your loved one gets personal one to one care, in their own home environment, so they can relax and enjoy a whole new set of conversations, activities and more with a qualified, experienced home care giver.
